When are ratings updated on the USCF website?
Revised: 2010-06-01

You may have noticed that sometimes when you check your rating or you receive the notification that an event you have played in has been rated, that the USCF website doesn't seem to have that information yet.  Te reason for this is that there are different automated tasks running at the USCF.  These tasks run on different update schedules.  Because of this you may  happen to look for the update to your information in one of the places that has not yet updated yet.

The most likely time you're going to catch things in-between being updated is if you enabled email notification of event you played in being rated and click on the link for the event soon after getting the email..  This is a feature you can enable by logging into
                https://secure2.uschess.org/email/email-pref-update.php

As of this revision date, the following appears to be the sequence of events that occurs.

  1. Every hour events that have been submitted for rating are processed.
  2. When the event is rated an automated email is sent to USCF players who have enabled email notifications
  3. The crosstables become available for downloading by TDs and affiliates (not the general USCF membership) in  the TD/Affiliate support area.
  4. The MSA web pages (the pages where you normally go to see your rating) are updated "shortly" after the crosstables are available.  Shortly seems to be up to several hours.
  5. The computation of changes to rating floors appears to be within "several days"
  6. The new tab on the site labeled "More" which displays players "Norms" is supposed to be updated once a week.
