USCF Membership Required

You must be a member of the USCF to play in the Summer Scholastics Program. You can join the USCF or renew USCF membership as part of entering our Summer event.

Club Membership not Required

You do NOT have to be a member of the club to play in our Summer program.

Playing in our Summer event does NOT make you a member of the the club

Being a member in the Club does NOT provide any benefits to participating in our Summer program

MACA Membership not Required

You do NOT have to be a member of MACA (the Massachusetts Chess Association) to play in our Summer program.

Being a member of MACA does NOT provide any benefits to participating in our Summer program

Which Tournaments ?

We do not need to know which week or night you will first be showing up to play. Whatever night it is, all you have to do is show up no later than 7:15 PM to "check in". Anyone who is not checked in on any night will not be matched (paired) to play.

Which section to play in?

A rating is a numerical measure of a player's strength, calculated by the United States Chess Federation (USCF) based on games the player has played against other rated players. Ratings are used to define sections where players will all be at a comparable level of ability. The competition gets tougher as the ratings get higher.

If a player has a rating, they can play in a higher section for more competition but they can not play in a lower section. For example, a player who has a 1000 rating may play in the Open tournament. This player may not play in the Reserve tournaments as their rating is not under 900.

If a player does not have a rating, we suggest you using the following to guide you for the first tournament:

If you are registering more than one player.

Add one players information into the box for the event to be played in

Click the Add to Cart.

After verifying the information in the cart, click the Return to Shopping button

When you are done selecting the Tournament and Sections, go further down the page and Join/Renew each player for the USCF.

When done, there is a Begin Checkout button at the bottom of the page.

Be sure to Join or Renew the USCF for each player by adding a membership for each player into the cart

	For new memberships, you must provide full address information so that you will receive your membership card and magazines. (The USCF requires a date of birth to process youth and scholastic memberships.).
